Fr. Thomas McCarvill was born in 1915 in Drumbilla, County Monaghan in Ireland. He was educated at St Macartan’s Monaghan and St Patrick’s Maynooth. He was ordained a Priest there in Maynooth for the Diocese of Clogher by Bishop Francis Wall, Titular Bishop of Thasos and Bishop Auxiliary of Dublin.

Fr McCarvill went on loan to the diocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh in Scotland from 1942 to 1947 where he served as an assistant Priest here at St Patrick’s Kilsyth for all of this period.

He returned to Clogher Diocese where he served as an assistant in Priest Killeevan, Newbliss in County Monaghan from 1947 to 1950. He then moved to Corduff, Corvally in County Louth from 1950 to 1955. His last posting as an assistant Priest was in Carrickmoss County Monaghan where he served from 1955 to 1971.

The last record we have of Fr McCarvill is of him being appointed as Parish Priest of Errigal Truagh (Emyvale) in County Monaghan in 1971.
